Lake Lure is a great place for a vacation home!

It is a popular destination for second home buyers who want a location that is convenient to the major cities of Charlotte, Asheville, Winston-Salem, and Greenville-Spartanburg. The town was incorporated in 1927, following completion of a dam on the Broad River in 1926 which created the 14-acre lake around which the town is situated. Some of the scenes from the film Dirty Dancing were filmed in Lake Lure, and it is the site of the 2006 HGTV Dream Home.
