Sevierville, located in the beautiful valley of the Forks of the Little Pigeon River, is the eighth oldest town in Tennessee. It was founded in 1795. Sevierville is named for John Sevier, the first governor of Tennessee, and Dolly Parton is Sevierville's most famous hometown girl.

Sevierville is located between Asheville, North Carolina, and Knoxville, Tennessee, on Interstate 40 at exit 407. Years ago, at Temple's Feed Store, County Commissioner Jimmie Temple married over 15,000 couples next to his bags of feed and bedding plants. The feed store is no longer there but Temple continues to conduct marriage ceremonies downtown.
