The Texas Hill Country is a Great Place for a Second Home

Most people that haven’t visited Texas, think of cattle, tumbleweed and expansive areas of flat terrain.  Don’t get me wrong, we do have plenty of that in certain parts of the state.  However, the Hill Country is an area you must visit sometime.  The Hill Country runs from just west and south of Fort Worth, all the way down through central Texas.  The vibrant cities of Austin and San Antonio anchor the heart of the Hill Country.  My wife and I just returned from a weekend trip through the Hill Country, where we visited 8 wineries.  We stayed in the quaint town of Fredericksburg at a great little hotel, and traveled between Kerrville, Comfort, Sisterdale and Fredericksburg visiting all the wineries in the area.  By far the best was Becker Vineyards in Stonewall.  Close by is Luckenback, Texas which is famous for live music.  Be sure and ask for very specific directions to find Luckenback.  It’s difficult to find unless you know what to look for!  Other great towns in the Hill Country include Boerne, Bandera, New Braunfels and the college town of San Marcos.  A town in the heart of the lake district is Marble Falls.  Close-by you will find Horseshoe Bay which features amazing luxury homes and resorts, fine dining and access to Lake LBJ.  Be sure to contact our GreatSecondHomes.com member, Sue Ellett, who is an expert on the area.  She can help you find the perfect vacation home or second homes in the area.
